Over-the-fireplace TV mounting

A TV above the mantel sits higher than usual, so height and tilt matter. The installer checks the spot with you first, suggests a tilting or full-motion mount when it helps, and use anchors made for masonry.

Questions

Can you mount on brick or stone?

Yes. Brick, concrete or a drywall fireplace is +$49; tile or stone is from +$69. When it is a stone fireplace, you pay only the larger of the two.

How do we pick the height?

The installer marks where the TV will go and you check it from your seat. Drilling starts only after you say it’s right.

Can the cables go inside the wall?

On interior drywall, yes — $89, using your cables. For fireplaces, brick, stone or tile we need a photo first, since it isn’t always possible. The simpler option is a paintable cover on the wall for $59, cover included.
