Homes and walls in Florida
Florida builds differently from most states. Many homes are concrete block with drywall fastened to thin furring strips on the exterior walls. A TV mount there must be anchored into the block itself with masonry anchors — the furring strips will not carry it. Interior walls are usually wood or metal studs. Condo towers in Miami, Tampa and Orlando add concrete walls and building rules about drilling. And nearly everyone wants a TV on the lanai, where humidity and salt call for outdoor-rated gear.
Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.
Where we plan to open in Florida
We open a city once at least two local installers there have passed our selection and a hands-on skills test. These five come first.
