Homes and walls in South Carolina
South Carolina mixes historic and brand-new. Downtown Charleston has homes more than a century old with plaster walls and masonry, where every hole is planned carefully. Around it — Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Rock Hill and Columbia's suburbs — most homes are recent, with drywall on wood studs. Coastal houses are often raised, and screened porches are a favorite spot for an outdoor TV, which needs weather-rated equipment.
Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.
