Homes and walls in Alabama
Homes in Alabama run from brick ranch houses of the 1960s and 70s around Birmingham and Montgomery to new subdivisions in Huntsville and Madison County. In newer houses the TV wall is drywall on wood studs. In older brick ranches the fireplace is usually real brick, so a TV above it needs masonry anchors. Many Alabama families also want a screen on a covered porch for football season; that calls for an outdoor-rated TV and a mount that stands up to humidity.
Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.
