Homes and walls in Massachusetts
Massachusetts has a great deal of prewar housing. Triple-deckers in Boston, Worcester and Lowell, and older colonials across the state, typically have horsehair plaster over lath. It is strong but brittle, and it hides studs from basic stud finders. Brick fireplaces and chimney breasts are common places for a TV and need masonry anchors. Newer condos in Cambridge and Boston may have metal studs or concrete. We ask which one you have before quoting.
Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.
Where we plan to open in Massachusetts
We open a city once at least two local installers there have passed our selection and a hands-on skills test. These five come first.
