Homes and walls in Alaska

Alaska homes are built for the cold: thick exterior walls packed with insulation and a sealed vapor barrier behind the drywall. That is why a TV is best mounted on an interior wall, and why cutting into an outside wall to hide cables is usually a bad idea here. Log homes and cabins around Fairbanks and the Mat-Su Valley are another common case — a mount can go straight into solid logs, but the cables have to run on the surface.

Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.

Where we plan to open in Alaska

We open a city once at least two local installers there have passed our selection and a hands-on skills test. These five come first.

Not everyone gets in.

Mountzo works with independent local installers. Before one reaches your door, three things have already happened.

  1. 1
    Selected

We look at experience and past installs before anything else.

  2. 2
    Tested

A hands-on skills test before the first job.

  3. 3
    Under agreement

Every installer signs our service agreement and answers for the work.
