Homes and walls in Connecticut
Connecticut has some of the oldest housing in the country. Colonials and Capes built before the 1950s often have plaster-and-lath walls, not drywall. Plaster cracks if it is drilled carelessly and it hides studs from ordinary stud finders, so mounting takes more time and the right anchors. Condos and apartments in Stamford, Bridgeport and New Haven are a different case: many have metal studs or concrete walls. Tell us the age and type of the building and we plan for it.
Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.
