Homes and walls in Hawaii
Hawaii's housing is unlike the mainland's. Many older island homes are single-wall construction — one layer of wood boards with no hollow stud cavity — so a TV mount must hit the structural posts and cables cannot be hidden inside the wall. Condo towers in Honolulu are concrete, often with rules about drilling. Add salt air and open lanais, and rust-resistant hardware matters much more here than in most states.
Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.
Where we plan to open in Hawaii
We open a city once at least two local installers there have passed our selection and a hands-on skills test. These five come first.
