Homes and walls in Oregon
Oregon homes span more than a century. Portland has many Craftsman bungalows and older houses with plaster-and-lath walls, while Hillsboro, Gresham, Salem and Eugene have large areas of newer construction with drywall on wood studs. Gas fireplaces with a TV space above them are standard in newer homes. In older ones, expect plaster, a brick chimney and outlets in inconvenient places, which affects how cables are hidden.
Whatever the wall, the rule is the same: the installer checks it with you and you approve the spot before anything is drilled.
Where we plan to open in Oregon
We open a city once at least two local installers there have passed our selection and a hands-on skills test. These five come first.
